Blackbaud: sync schedule Block letter & room name into Orah group/section display

Your Blackbaud class sections can now show the Block schedule letter right in the name, and room names appear as their own field across roll-taking, emergency rolls, and class displays. You choose how much detail shows in the section name.

What's New

In your Blackbaud integration, under Field mapping, you can now pick how section names appear. Choose the semester name on its own, add the Block letter (so a class reads like "Precalculus (US) - 2 (G)"), or add both the Block letter and room. Room names sync automatically as a dedicated field either way, and this covers every group type with meeting times and rooms, including academic classes, Advisories, Activities, and Athletics, across all divisions.

Why It Matters

When a fire alarm sounds or you're taking a roll between periods, knowing exactly which Block a class belongs to and which room it's in makes all the difference. Faculty and safety staff can now see when and where each class meets at a glance, right where they're already working, without cross-referencing a separate schedule.

Next Steps

  1. Open your Blackbaud integration and go to Field mapping

  2. Find the groupName row and open the format dropdown under Blackbaud Field Name

  3. Choose the format you want: semester name, Block letter, or Block letter plus room

  4. Save your selection

  5. Once done wait for Auto Sync or Trigger Manual Sync

Names will update on the next scheduled sync, or run a manual sync to see them right away. Questions? Reach out to your CSM.
