Coming Soon: Choose Your School's Term for Gating

Demo:

Coming soon

The Snapshot

You can now choose whether your school sees "Gating" or "Restriction" in Orah. Pick the one that fits your culture, and it shows up everywhere staff, students and parents see it.

What's New

In the Admin Console, you can now choose between Gating (the default) and Restriction. Once saved, the new term replaces "Gating" across the staff web and iOS apps, the student app, the family app, the checkpoint apps, and the pass request link, with wording that reads naturally, like "Restricted" in place of "Gated". Reports, CSV exports and notifications use your chosen term too. Your existing records and history stay exactly as they are.

Why It Matters

The words you use shape how students and families feel about a rule. If "Gating" sounds harsher than your school intends, you can switch to "Restriction", and everyone sees it the same way, from your staff to students' families. Nothing changes unless you choose to change it, and you can switch back whenever you like.

Next Steps

  1. Open the Admin Console and go to your terminology settings
  2. Find Gating, next to Passes, Leaves and Absences
  3. Choose Restriction
  4. Select Save Changes. The new term appears right away for staff, students and parents
To go back, choose Gating and save again.

Give it a try, and reach out to your CSM with any questions.
