Usability Improvement

Schools using FACTS can now pick which source field maps to a student's first name in Orah. Map a student's nickname as their first name, with the formal first name filling in when no nickname exists.
What's New
The student firstName mapping in your FACTS integration now offers an alternative source option. Choose the formal first name on its own, or the nickname with the formal first name as a fallback, so students who have a nickname recorded show up that way and everyone else still comes through correctly.
Why It Matters
Students often go by a name that isn't their formal first name, and seeing that name on rolls and profiles helps staff connect with them from day one. Pulling nicknames straight from FACTS means your student records reflect how each student is actually addressed, with no manual edits and no one showing up under a name they don't use.
Next Steps
Open your FACTS integration and go to Student Schema β Field mapping
Find the firstName row and open the dropdown under FACTS Field Name
Choose "nickName, firstName" to use nicknames with a fallback
Save
Names will update on the next scheduled sync, or run a manual sync to see them right away. Questions? Reach out to your CSM.
