Field Trips overriding parent-submitted excuses

We are having issues with students with field trip excuses overriding absent-excused records. As an example, if we have a student with five classes during the day, and they are expected to go on a field trip during the third class -- the first two classes will show "Absent-Excused", the third class will show "Field Trip", and then for the last two classes, since the student is not at school and there is no excuse on their record, the student will be marked as "Absent".
