Warning when you activate an excuse that occurs in the future

We would like a pop up warning or a way to turn off the ability to activate an excuse that occurs a certain amount of time in the future. We put in athletic events and known absences in ahead of time and they are sometimes activated by mistake. It would be nice to have an alert or the ability to control how far ahead of time an excuse can be activated.
