You can now bring staff preferred names into Orah from Blackbaud. Choose whether a staff member's first name shows as their legal name or their preferred name, right in the field mapping.

What's New

The staff firstName mapping in your Blackbaud integration now offers a preferred-name option. Map it to the legal first name on its own, or to preferred name with the legal first name as a backup, so anyone who has a preferred name recorded shows up that way, and anyone who doesn't still comes through with their first name.

Why It Matters

Calling staff by the name they actually go by is a small thing that matters. When preferred names flow straight from the system you already maintain, your rolls, profiles, and communications reflect how each person wants to be addressed, with no manual editing and no one slipping through with the wrong name.

Next Steps

1. Open your Blackbaud staff integration and go to Field mapping

2. Find the firstName row and open the dropdown under Blackbaud Field Name

3. Choose "preferred_name, first_name" to use preferred names with a fallback

4. Save
