New Feature

Give Parents Visibility into Attendance via Mobile app

Demo:

The Snapshot

Parents using the Orah Families app can now view their child's attendance records and alerts directly in the app — from an overall rate to day-by-day entries, class breakdowns, and real-time alerts with quick actions built in.

What's New

The Families app now includes a dedicated Attendance page showing a child's overall attendance rate, a chronological list of daily records, and a class-by-class breakdown — each with a detail view. A new Alerts screen groups attendance-related alerts by date, with each alert showing context and quick actions: view the linked records, submit a pass, see the full attendance history, or dismiss the alert. Access to the Attendance page is controlled by your school's settings — administrators can adjust parent visibility in Admin Console.

Version

  • iOS v2.0.8

  • Android v1.1.18

Why It Matters

Parents who can see their child's attendance in the app are better informed and less likely to call the office with questions. When an alert comes through, they have everything they need to act right there — check the records, submit a pass, or follow up — without needing to contact the school first.

Next Steps

For school administrators:

  1. Go to Admin Console → Contacts → Edit Permission

  2. Enable or adjust parent visibility for attendance records

  3. Let families know the Attendance page and Alerts are now available in their app

For parents (once enabled by your school):

  1. Open the Families app and go to the Attendance page

  2. View the overall rate at the top, then tap any entry for day or class details

  3. Check the Alerts screen for attendance notifications — tap View Related Records, Add Pass, or View Attendance to act directly from the alert
